Yardena, Rosalee, and I went out on Saturday night. We figured we would go to a coffee house. We headed downtown to Queen and John. The streets were almost completely parked in. I headed into a parking lot where there was a sign that said $9 earlybird. I figured since it was 8:30 on a Saturday night, that it would be considered earlybird as it was earlier than the clubs and other venues start to pick up. I hand the attendant $9, and he said “it’s another $10”. I told him forget it. I left the parking lot, and after another minute or so I found street parking. Because it was close to 8:30 (parking is free after 9 p.m.) we only had to pay for a 1/2 hour. Cost? A whopping $1! I saved $19! 🙂
We ended up at the Starbucks at Queen & John. We hung out there for at least 1.5 hours. Drinking our beverages, and chatting. Around 10:30 we decided to head out onto the streets. Trying to figure out where we wanted to go, we ended up walking to the upstairs Rivoli. We had a drink or two and listed to some really great music. Kudos to the DJ! I knew nearly every song over the course of the hour that we were there. We were getting ready to meet up with Yardena’s sister and some of her friends, and the DJ put on this amazing song. It had a grassroots vibe that was just great. I approached the DJ and he said that it was an album “he’s played the hell out of”. It’s Paradigm by Osunlade. I have to get my hands on that album. It’s truly amazing. I suggest that you listen to it. Too bad that the iTunes music store doesn’t have it. I’ll have to find it somewhere else. Maybe HMV will have it.
We met up with Orly (Yardena’s sister) and her friends at a pool hall/bar called Safari. We left around 2ish to head home.
